It’s a region that’s accurately named: particularly if you love the outdoors. But the Slovensky Raj, or Slovak Paradise, is not somewhere to come for a day trip. This is, on balance, Slovakia’s most wonderfully varied national park (caves, rocky peaks, forested chasms, general Narnia-esque landscapes) and you want to immerse yourself in it for days. That means staying here! This is not the region for fine hotels (although there are a couple of nice ones here): but there are a great range of ultra-traveller-friendly guesthouses and campsites that know what it’s like to be out hiking or mountain biking all day, then come back to crash and get some TLC. The key bases within the Slovak Paradise itself are Čingov (northeast), Hrabušice (north) and Dedinky (south).
